Around the Beatles. – 28th April 64.
In a novel approach to recording a TV show, the soundtrack for this appearance was recorded in the studio on 19 April 1964 and on the night 28th April 64) they turned up and mimed to that recording. The songs were ‘Twist and Shout’, ‘Roll Over Beethoven’, ‘I Wanna Be Your Man’, ‘Long Tall Sally’, a medley of ‘Love Me Do/Please Please Me/From me to You/She Loves You/I Want to Hold Your Hand’, ‘Can’t Buy Me Love’ and ‘Shout’. The finished programme was eventuallly broadcast as the sixty minute special ‘Around The Beatles’ by Rediffusion on 6 May 1964.
Big Night Out. – 1st September 63.

The Beatles appear on Mike and Bernie Winter’s ‘Big Night Out’ and mimed to ‘From Me to You’,’She Loves You’ and ‘Twist and Shout’.
The Royal Variety Performance. – 4th November 63.
The Beatles famous Royal Variety Show appearance where John invites the royalty present to ‘rattle their jewellery’ rather than clap. Featured here from the show is ‘From Me To You’,’Till There Was You’ and ‘Twist and Shout’.
Ready Steady Go. – 4th October 63.

The Beatles first appearance, broadcast live, on Rediffusions’s ‘Ready Steady Go!’, presented by Dusty Springfield.
They mimed to ‘Twist and Shout’, ‘I’ll Get You’ and ‘She Loves You’, this is the full 30 min show.
Swedish TV show, Drop in – 30th October 63.
Whilst touring in Sweden The Beatles recorded four songs for the Swedish TV show ‘Drop In’: ‘She Loves You’, ‘Twist and Shout’, ‘I Saw Her Standing There’ and ‘Long Tall Sally’.
BBC, The Mersey Sound. – 27th Augest 63.

This 30 minute documentary includes performances of ‘Twist and Shout’, ‘She Loves You’ and ‘Love Me Do’ Interviews and backstage shots and a trip on a ferry across the Mersey. There are a great many very interesting views from local people and groups. It is a perfect window to the era it was made, showing old Liverpool before the town planners knocked everything down.

The Beatles appear on Mike and Bernie Winter’s ‘Big Night Out’ and they also joined Eric Morecambe and Ernie Wise for a sketch in which they exchanged banter and sang ‘Moonlight Bay’.

With Shakespeare. – 1964 British television
In honour of Shakespeare’s 400th birthday, the Beatles performed this play-within-a-play Pyramus and Thisbe from A Midsummer’s Nights Dream, which featured in the sixty minute special ‘Around The Beatles’. It is the Colourizes version taken from “The Beatles Explosion”.
And with Ken Dodd. – 25 November 1963.
Late Scene Extra’ the boys and Ken share some scouse humor with Gay Byrne.
